Private Family in Englewood Cliffs, NJ Seeking a Live-In Companion/Housekeeper

Position: Full-Time Live-In Companion/Housekeeper
Schedule: Live-in, 7 days/week; Friday day off available as needed
Salary: $300–$400 per day take-home, depending on experience
Start Date: ASAP
Relocation: No – local candidates preferred; must be willing to travel to Florida with the client

About the Family

A warm and welcoming private household in Englewood Cliffs, NJ is looking for a kind, reliable, and personable Live-In Companion/Housekeeper to join their home. The client is an independent elderly woman who manages most things herself and is primarily looking for companionship, transportation, and some assistance with meals and household responsibilities.

She is very kind and wants someone who is happy, positive, and genuinely enjoys being around people. The ideal person will become a trusted companion and someone who feels comfortable being part of the household.

• Household: One elderly woman
• Home: 5,000 sq ft 
• Accommodations: Private bedroom with private full bathroom , use of pool and the gym is permitted 
• Household Staff: groundskeeper, someone to clean the pool, a deep cleaner once a week
• Travel: The client spends the winter in Boca Raton, FL, and the employee will travel with her from approximately mid-December through March

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship and a friendly presence for the client
• Drive the client to appointments, shopping, errands, and other outings
• Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner
• Handle light housekeeping and general household upkeep
• Assist with laundry and keeping the home organized
• Run occasional household errands
• Assist with day-to-day household needs as they arise
• Be available to the client while respecting her independence
• Accompany the client to Florida for the winter season

This is a very relaxed position with a significant amount of downtime . The client is independent and does not require constant assistance, so the ideal candidate should be comfortable having quiet periods during the day and enjoying their own interests while remaining available when needed.

The employee is welcome to use the home's pool and gym during personal time.

Ideal Candidate & Personality

The ideal candidate is warm, friendly, trustworthy, and genuinely enjoys companionship. They should have a positive personality and be someone who can develop a comfortable, natural relationship with the client.

The client is looking for someone who can feel more like a friend or part of the family rather than simply an employee. She wants the person living in her home to be happy and enjoy the environment.

A flexible and easygoing personality, strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to respect the client's independence are essential. The ideal candidate should also be comfortable with significant downtime and understand the unique nature of a live-in position.

This position cannot be split between two people . The client is looking for one person who can commit to the live-in arrangement.

Requirements

• Prior experience as a companion, housekeeper, caregiver, or similar private household position
• Excellent references
• Legal to work in the United States
• Valid driver's license and comfortable driving the client
• Comfortable with a live-in position
• Willing to travel with the client to Boca Raton, FL from approximately mid-December through March
• Comfortable working 7 days per week with Friday available as a day off when needed
