Snapshot / Role Overview

We're seeking a Mechanical Construction Estimator in Nashville, TN to own full-cycle HVAC and plumbing bids on large commercial and healthcare mechanical projects from first takeoff through bid-day execution and handoff.

Impact

• Produce accurate HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal estimates that directly determine which projects the company wins and at what margin.
• Strengthen the company's presence in the Nashville commercial and healthcare market through competitive, well-documented bids.
• Give preconstruction reliable cost data on conceptual budgets that sharpen as design develops.
• Identify value engineering opportunities across mechanical scopes that improve bid competitiveness without sacrificing scope integrity.

Responsibilities

• Complete quantity takeoffs for ductwork, HVAC piping, plumbing systems, and mechanical equipment using platforms such as Trimble AutoBid, QuickPen, FastPipe, FastDuct, or Bluebeam.
• Prepare plan-and-spec, design-assist, and design-build estimates with complete labor and material pricing.
• Develop conceptual budgets early in preconstruction and refine them as drawings and specifications mature.
• Solicit, review, and level vendor and subcontractor quotes for accuracy and scope alignment.
• Write scope letters, proposals, and bid packages that clearly define qualifications and exclusions.
• Execute bid-day coordination and deliver a clean, organized handoff to project management.
• Analyze drawings and specifications for scope gaps, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities.

Requirements

Must-Haves

• Dedicated commercial mechanical estimating experience covering both HVAC and plumbing scopes.
• Proven ability to run takeoffs and price labor units independently on large commercial projects.
• Experience with plan-and-spec, design-assist, or design-build delivery methods.
• Proficiency with at least one industry takeoff or estimating platform.

Nice-to-Haves

• Healthcare project estimating experience.
• Field or fabrication background in mechanical, plumbing, or sheet metal construction.
• Familiarity with Trimble AutoBid, QuickPen, FastPipe, FastDuct, or Bluebeam.
